Statement of Purpose
The Hamptons is a large, detached building that has been adapted and has had purpose-built extensions added to provide accommodation for older adults under and over 65 years. We have the expertise within the team and Senior management team to provide care to those who have Dementia, sensory impairments, and physical disability.
The home is situated in the residential area of Leckhampton, in Cheltenham. Cheltenham is well known for its Spa town history and the sweeping hills surrounding the area.
Car parking is provided at the front of the home, where there is ramp access to the main entrance. There is level access to well tendered gardens at the rear of the home.
The ground floor consists of communal areas to include a dining area that opens into the main lounge, followed on with an activities lounge. The communal area’s look out onto the enclosed rear garden area.
The rear garden is mainly laid to lawn, with paving slabs, a patio area and shrub borders. There is a patio area with garden furniture. The garden enjoys sunshine all day, with shaded areas provided by a pergola and garden parasols.
The bedrooms all consist of an ensuite that include a private toilet and hand basin. Bedrooms are located on the ground and first floor. Service users are encouraged to personalize their rooms with their belongings.
Communal bathrooms and shower rooms are adapted with bath hoists and necessary moving & handling equipment, to enable individuals to use the facilities safely, with any support they may require.
Two passenger lifts provide access for the service users who are unable to use the stairs.
Meals are served in the main dining area, with individual’s preferences for seating during mealtimes being catered for.
Dietary requirements and preferences are met through menu planning and regular conversations with service users.
Free WIFI is available throughout the home for residents and their visitors and details can be found in individual bedrooms.
Laundry is completed on site and all service users clothing is to be labelled prior to admission to the service.
There is a robust recruitment and selection process that is led by the central HR team and Home Manager to ensure that suitably skilled staff are employed.
The Hamptons is registered as a care home without nursing, for 37 service users over the age of 18 who may require support with nursing or personal care as the regulated activity. This may be for permanent placement, or for respite care.
Emergency admissions are accepted by the home. Emergency admissions will be accepted as long as an in-depth care plan can be sourced from the referrer. Full details of the client’s needs are to be discussed with the home to identify care needs and ensure the home can accommodate those needs.
An emailed care plan will be accepted if verbal supporting evidence is given.
At the Hamptons we respect our client’s privacy and dignity by supporting and maintaining their independence through personal care, socialisation and ensuring our staff are meeting the service users needs. We promote empowerment, self-esteem and encourage service users to be actively involved in the homes activities and encourage community socialisation. Promoting independence is a high priority of the home’s ethos, ‘Creating the motivation for Life”.
Service Users are encouraged to actively take part in both internal and external social activities, hobbies, and leisure activities. The Hamptons provides a full range of activities to suit individual choices and preferences, including board games, cards, bingo, craftwork, and parties relevant to specific occasions, theatrical performances, singers, and movement to music. Daytrips are also arranged in accordance with service users’ preferences to include Beach trips, craft fairs, seasonal markets etc
Training is ongoing and is provided to all staff, a training calendar is developed year on year to reflect the needs of the staff and the changing needs of the population as well as the focus of the business.
The service users and their families are invited to attend meetings at Hampton House with the management to discuss issues regarding the home and its development. Everyone is given the opportunity to actively take part in meetings and add items for address to the agenda.
This does not substitute the one-to-one meetings/chats that can be held at any time with the Home manager. The Home manager has an open-door policy, making herself accessible to relatives/service users/staff when required.
